||Melody Graves and the Hokum Redemption
||Digging deep into the delta of old ragtime, swing and country blues Melody Graves and the Hokum Redemption rise with a musical salvation of trusty resonator, washboard, mandolin, trombone and bass that builds one heck of a sound to get you stompin', swingin' and feeling those sweet lowdown blues.
Sharing a giddy enthusiasm for 1920's and 30's ragtime and blues, MGHR come equip with their own vocal and instrumental stylings of this infectious music and original songs. Paula Hackney (PJ) was singing and playing her heart out with The Ragtone Ramblers and The Floyd Family Breakdown; along with Dennis Duigan who also plays a mean banjo (Dennis Duigan Music) and expresses his country side with Pine Mountain Cartel. You can catch Dean Morgan on the Gold Coast and surrounds playing with the Presidential Blues Band. This hokum bunch also includes Bayden Mitchell on double bass, and Richard Ferrari on Trombone, and special guests.
For those of you who don't know it the New Farm Bowls Club is on Brunswick St opposite New Farm Park. It has a great atmosphere, food, good parking, public transport, and a bar and a kitchen, open till 8.30pm. Click HERE to see what's coming up in the next few weeks.
