Name: The Poachers
Brief Blurb: The Poachers formed in 1998 and had great success on the Australian festival circuit, providing support for folk greats Altan, Tony McManus and the Fureys, and releasing a critically-acclaimed CD in 2000 which received national airplay on the ABC. Now, after an 8-year hiatus while living on different continents, the band are back together again, gracing stages at Maldon, Woodford, and Neurum Creek in 2011 and at the 2012 National Folk Festival in Canberra, where they unveiled “Back in the Woods” for the first time. Recorded by the band in Brisbane and beautifully mixed and mastered by Dave Neil, this is a thoughtful collection of contemporary folk songs by songwriters from Australia, the USA and Ireland, and arranged by the band known for their emotive and polished performances.
