Name: Sadie and Jay.
Brief Blurb: Sadie and Jay's contemporary folk music leans to the alternative with a tinge of blues and roots and occasional theatrics! Jay plays guitars, bouzouki, banjo and mandolin while Sadie plays electric and double bass.

Sadie and Jay have been collaborating and performing in and beyond the Brisbane folk and festival scene for the past five years. They've recently returned from their second successful tour of the UK with highlights including guest performances at The Upton Upon Severn and Great North Folk Festivals. They were thrilled to win The Great North's song competition with their original; “Song Already Written.” Launching their first album CURIOUS in 2015 & their second ROGUE FOLK in 2017, the duo's collaborative work hint of origins in the Anglo-Celtic tradition travelling through modern Australian folk and roots. Both albums feature a host of prominent guest musicians. Rogue Folk was Album of the Week on ABC Radio Brisbane and Eden fm Cumbria UK. “Red Red Dirt” from the album reached no2 on the Australian AMRAP Regional Charts.

Sadie and Jay are currently working on material for their third album so perhaps a sneak preview of a new song or two might be heard at their September gig at The Bug!

Alison Bell - Vice President of The Brisbane Folk History Project “Sadie & Jay are attracting a growing audience and it is easy to understand why. These independent Australian artists are highly accomplished at making music and the music they make just keeps getting better and better. The pair do not take themselves too seriously but they certainly take their work seriously – the combination is intoxicating.”

Ann Leung - Recording Artist and ABC Radio Correspondent “Losing myself in the masterful instrumentation and drop dead gorgeous vocals. Beautiful work and so aptly titled. Warm, enveloping, humorous. Traditional folk references with a contemporary twist. . This is a wonderful & important addition to our local contemporary folk recording history."

Graham Blackley for Trad and Now “One of the many highlights of this album is the effortless way in which Sadie and Jay change gear from one musical style to another without ever sacrificing cohesiveness or losing their identity”

Ian Dearden - “This is a superb album, featuring terrific song writing, great production, gorgeous and sympathetic arrangements, all in the context of an album arc that holds you spellbound from start to finish.”
