Welcome to Brisbane Unplugged Gigs

The evening features performers from the local folk community including Sue Wighton, Mary Brettell, Anne Infante, Ross Roache, Ian Dearden, Noel Gardner, Alex Bridge, Jenny Fitzgibbon and Amaidí. Together they bring a rich blend of voices, styles and experience, interpreting songs and tunes that reflect the depth of Queensland’s folk tradition. The repertoire honours past singers, songwriters and tune players such as Paul Lawler & Mark Gillett, Chris Nicholson, June Nichols, Michael O’Rourke, Don Henderson, Bill Berry and Chris Buch.

The concert is inspired by Immortal – A Video Tribute to Australia’s Folk Legends, a project celebrating artists who are no longer with us but whose music, passion and influence have helped shape Australia’s cultural identity. Created by Bruce Watson, Immortal is a 56-minute video tribute recognising 76 individuals and acknowledging many more, capturing their stories through photographs, video and audio. It offers both a lasting record and an inspiration for future generations, spanning performers as well as contributors to spoken word, dance, collecting and organising from across the country.
