Name: Jumping Fences Duo
Brief Blurb: Jumping Fences songwriting partnership, Sue Monk and Lachlan Hurse, bring a unique repertoire of original songs and music that has most inspired them from their long association with Latin American singer-songwriters, culminating in two tours to Cuba in 2017 and 2018.\r\n\r\nSongs of working lives, migration, exile, and everyday hopes and joys find their home in Sue’s expressive vocals. Demonstrating a love for the nylon-stringed guitar and the syncopation of Latin American folk music, she is supported by Lachlan’s thoughtful accompaniment on bass, moving their music comfortably between tenderness and energy.\r\n\r\nThey perform regularly at Foco Nuevo’s backyard concert series with their full line-up, including Ross Gwyther on saxophone and James Harper on drums.\r\n\r\nThey have composed songs for choirs and conducted workplace songwriting and performance projects in association with the Qld Council of Unions. Jumping Fences recently released two singles ‘Woolloongabba’ and ‘Tiempo y Silencio’.
